The NPPA's Best of Photojournalism 2008 contest has just wrapped up judging and posted the results. You can see every photo that won in dozens of categories and hear the judges talk about what they liked at this website:

I would suggest that each of you spend some serious time here looking over what is considered to be the best photojournalist this year.
